Brachychiton acerifolius 'Illawarra Flame Tree'

Medium to large ornamental Australian native with a spectacular floral display. Young trees have a pyramidal form becoming rounder as they age. Glossy 5 lobed leaves will drop just before flowering commences. Brilliant red bell shaped flowers are formed in clusters at branch ends. Woody dark brown boat shaped seed pods follow.

Adaptable plant growing in most soils including clay and sandy loams. Protect from frost when young.
