Ulmus parvifolia Chinese Elm is a medium to large tree grown for grand stature and shade. Because trees are grown from seed some characteristics vary. Bark can be either grey and fissured or mottled pinkie-brown flat plates. Overall shape of tree varies from round headed to wide spreading gently weeping particularly the lower branches. Trees may be deciduous or semi-evergreen. Will grow best in free drained garden soils in sun.
For best results; use a mulch layer around plants to retain soil moisture. Pruning is well tolerated, but generally not required.
