Blackberry Thornless 'Rubus canadensis'
A thornless, fast growing variety which produces heavy crops of deep purple to black fruit which ripens over summer. A rich source of vitamins. Eat fresh or freeze for later use. Ideal ingredient for adding flavour to dessert, fruit pies and jams.
A very hardy plant which grows well in most conditions. Plant in well-drained soil rich in organic matter.
Best fruit formed on last seasons wood; therefore encourage new basel growth every year. Remove old wood back to a good bud. Prune late winter. Fertilise with citrus food in early autumn and mulch during the growing season.
Cultivating soil before planting. Dig hole twice the width of the container. Remove plant from container and place into the hole so the soil level is the same as the surrounding ground. Fill hole firmly and water in well even if the soil is moist.
