Camellia japonica 'C.M Hovey' 

Large evergreen shrub with attractive, glossy, dark green, thick foliage. Large, showy flowers bloom in early winter to mid spring. Position with morning sun and partly shaded. Shelter from hot afternoon sun and dry hot winds. Can be planted under large trees, dense shade will restrict flower production. Well draining, slightly acidic soil. Before planting combine soil with organic matter for best results. Keep moist especially in hot, dry weather. Mulch with compost, leaf mould or other organic matter to keep roots cool. Do not allow mulch to touch the trunk. may be lightly trimmed to shape in spring. Feed in spring with a specific camellia fertiliser or a complete organic fertiliser.
