Peppermint is a fast-growing perennial ground cover with aromatic, red-tinted leaves and stems. It is easy to grow, with small lilac flowers appearing in summer and is happy in pots or the ground.

Growing Tip: Cultivate well drained soil before planting. Tip prune regularly to promote fresh growth. Grow in pots to limit spread. Prune back hard in spring.

Uses: Infused leaves make a tea reputed to relieve symptoms of colds except in infants. Also used in confectionary, desserts and iced drinks.
