Hakea laurina 14cm

Hakea laurina is a hardy, evergreen tall shrub or small tree with pincushion-like red and cream flowers. Flowers appear in abundance over a long period and are followed by cone-shaped, woody capsules. The flowers attract nectar-feeding birds.

They are a useful screen cover or informal hedge and suited for coastal gardens.

 Prefers well drained soil in an open, full sun position but will tolerate part shade, mild frost and coastal conditions. Protect from salt spray and wind. Avoid waterlogged or highly alkaline soil. Responds well to light clipping.
