Myoporum parvifolium 'Garden Armour'
This ground cover grows as living mulch, tolerates extremely low rainfall, high temperatures and is a natural fire retardant to burning embers. Profuse dainty white star shaped flowers appear during summer and autumn.
Grows best in full sun in open areas and is adaptable to most well drained soils and once this plant is established it will tolerate dry conditions. It is best to initially feed with slow release low phosphorus fertiliser to help establish the plant. Mulching around the base of the plant will help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
'Garden Armour' was originally selected from plants growing along the cliffs of the Murray River in south Australia by Rex Ellis.
