A hardy, evergreen shrub with large, green, glossy leaves. In winter new foliage is bright, crimson red. In spring clusters of white flowers are borne followed by blue-black berries. 

Useful as either a short or tall hedge. A ideal plant for windbreaks. 

Prefers a moist, well draining soil rich in organic matter. Plant in full sun or part shade. Water regularly after planting until established. Mulch well to supress weeds and reduce soil water loss.
