Smooth crisp leaves have a distinctive red vein and a sharp tangy acidic lemon flavour. Tall spikes of very small green flowers appear in summer.

Thrives in a sunny to lightly shaded position in fertile well drained soils. Water regularly to keep moist but don't over water. Liquid fertilise during the growing season.

Contains calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium as well as vitamins A and C.
